John A. Deskins (Jack to his friends) is the Arts Coordinator at the West Virginia Department of Education. Prior to taking this position, Jack worked as a music teacher at the elementary through college levels, teaching band, chorus, jazz, music history, theory, piano, and guitar, among other subjects. He is a founding member of the West Virginia Coalition for Arts Education and currently serves as president of the West Virginia Music Educators Association.
